As a "big tent" site, I can't see why the tent couldn't get bigger. Either we expand the scope of one of the exisiting pages (Single/Separated/Co-parenting?) or make another page. I'm sure the main thing would be to make it easier for folks to find one another, and so it's just a question of whether more pages would make it harder (after a point it clutters?) or easier. But stay tuned. I'll query the other LesFam editorial group gals.

Meanwhile I'll park your link in the most recent site update post!

Hi reinzig! My sense is that the core mission of the site is to enable lesbians who are trying to find others writing about their family-making and family-rearing experiences. That said, here's what Liza wrote in the About page:

Although LesbianFamily.org is primarily for and about lesbian parents, it’s a “big tent” web site. If you are a gay dad, have a lesbian parent in your extended family, or just want to show your support for lesbian families, we’d be happy to list your blog here too. Email and tell us what category you’d like to be listed in, and unless we find a compelling reason not to list you, we will.

So my sense is, if you can find a page that seems to make sense for a blog to be listed, then by all means propose it! The Friends of the Family page has several blogs that are lesbian-created content but not about parenting. So maybe there? Any other LesFam editorial team folks want to weigh in?

Oh! One more thing!

Are blogs from lesbian moms that are not about parenting (or lesbianing) in particular also welcome on ths site? Or does that need to be what your blog is about?

Any chance we could get a section for separated/co-parenting folks? It's really quite a different situation.

I checked under the single parenting section, but just got depressed when I saw that the people there were all pregnant (or some variation thereof). It's especially tough when that is part of what destroyed your relationship--the whole infertility, aging out, who gets pregnant first, thing.

It'd be great to have a place of our own.

In the meantime, I'll surf around.

[...] There is no empirical evidence that supports the claim that gay or lesbian parents disadvantage their offspring (Alexander, 2001; Dahir, n.d.; Ryan, Pealmutter, & Groza, 2004). The American Psychological Association (1995) goes as far as to state that the home environments provided by gay and lesbian parents are “as likely as those provided by heterosexual parents to enable and support children’s psychological growth” (as cited in Alexander, 2001). Additionally, children are resilient and although children of gays and lesbians must contend with unique circumstances and homophobia, this does not influence their social or emotional development (Alexander, 2001). The key is that the children are provided with a loving, safe, and consistent environment. For real life stories and proof of positive parenting and loving families, check out Mombian or any of the families listed under Lesbian Family’s blogroll! [...]
