Representing at BlogHer!

Are any LesbianFamily.org readers going to BlogHer?
I’ve been invited to step in as a speaker on the panel “The Politics of Inclusion & Exclusion in Online Communities,” and would love to have you join me and the rest of the very interesting women who will be there. It should be a great discussion.

Send a Little Love

Send a little love over to Chris (and her partner Susan) at Not the Mama. Susan had a very bad ultrasound on Thursday and is taking cytotec to help her body deal with the not viable embryo.
So sorry for your loss, friends, and I hope the next insem turns out to make your family a […]

Shoe? Meet the Other Foot.

One of my favorite bloggers outside of the Lesbian Family blogosphere is Isabel, of Hola, Isabel. By simple description, we might be utterly different — she’s a churchgoing west-coaster whose husband is building their second house from scratch! I only recently became a regular churchgoer, live in the south, and between Jill and me, we […]

Happy Pride Season

Many of you have already celebrated Pride in your communities, but a few of us still have ours coming up. It’s been interesting (both fun and stressful) reading about the family events and the return to our roots at different local festivals, and we’re excited to go to ours this weekend.
I was musing on Pride […]

Family Pride and Local Family Advocacy Groups

Are you involved with Family Pride or a local GLBT family advocacy organization in your community?
If you are, what do you get out of it? What do you think other people get out of it? Is it doing a good job in your community? What could it do better?
If you aren’t, is there one in […]

Lesbian Wedding Clothing?

Hello All –
This request came in to LesbianFamily.org a week ago, but I’ve been too crazed to post it. I think the project is wonderful and I’m totally participating. I hope you will too!

I’m carrying out some research for a book to be published in 2008 by Berg, Oxford. The book is called Fabrics of […]

Writing Beyond the Blogosphere

This is mostly to those of you with blogs of your own. But of course, open to all.
I know that some of you are writers, some of you are serious about being writers, and some of you would be serious about being writers if you weren’t afraid that admitting it would sound arrogant, or maybe […]

And the Winner Was…

Perez Hilton. That’s who won the 2007 Bloggie for Best GLBT Blog.
I’m not sufficiently detached to claim that I’m not disappointed at all, but I have to admit, I’m not surprised. And I’m not very disappointed. Calling it “apples to oranges” doesn’t even convey it. Maybe grilled cheese sandwiches to tequila is a better simile?
LesbianFamily.org […]

Story Corps Outdoes Itself: Please Listen

Ok, I admit it, I’m a geek. My favorite kind of “music” is NPR.
In moments like this morning, I know why. This morning, Morning Edition ran a Story Corps segment that made me cry in my car. While I was driving.
The interview was between a 14 year old girl and her mother. The mother, Sue […]
