Question: Am I Just Stingy?

While I would have liked to herald my return to writing for Lesbian Family.org with a deeply heartfelt, moving piece, I’m still just too tired for that.  So instead I’ll ask a question.
Would you use a coupon on a first date?
This question was asked on queercents this week as part of their WWYD series.  To [...]

Writing Beyond the Blogosphere

This is mostly to those of you with blogs of your own. But of course, open to all.
I know that some of you are writers, some of you are serious about being writers, and some of you would be serious about being writers if you weren’t afraid that admitting it would sound arrogant, or maybe [...]

A Different Kind of Proud Parent

I’ve written about getting more involved in my local queer community here before, and last night I got to experience something new in that arena.  Last night I attended my first PFLAG meeting.  Upon meeting all the lovely folks at the meeting, my first thought was (even though she is TOTALLY wonderful and supportive,) “Damn, [...]

And the Winner Was…

Perez Hilton. That’s who won the 2007 Bloggie for Best GLBT Blog.
I’m not sufficiently detached to claim that I’m not disappointed at all, but I have to admit, I’m not surprised. And I’m not very disappointed. Calling it “apples to oranges” doesn’t even convey it. Maybe grilled cheese sandwiches to tequila is a better simile?

Queering his Childhood

(just a quick note: this post was not inspired by Art’s recent post. I hesitate to post this as I feel it covers similar ground, but I think there may be a few other angles to discuss.)

So tell me…
Are you, as a lesbian parent/queer parent and parent to be less invested in normative gender roles?
I [...]

Tradition….tradition!

As the Jewish holiday of Purim (Think Halloween crossed with Mardi Gras, with a little St. Patricks Day thrown in for good measure, but unique all on it’s own) passes us by, I’m left thinking a lot about religion, and how the decisions we make about it now will affect our family in the future. [...]

Research Subjects Needed for Project on Same-Sex Adoption

This one came through my local queer parenting group…

Are you in a committed relationship?
Are you planning to adopt for the first time?
If so, we need your and your partner’s help!

The Transition to Adoptive Parenthood Project (TAPP) is aimed at exploring the transition to adoptive parenthood in same-sex parents. We are asking you to [...]

An Order of Retail Therapy with a Side of Frustration

I have been meaning to write a review of Peggy Drexler’s Raising Boys Without Men, but I never seem to have the time.  So here’s some thoughts on a somewhat tangentially related topic…
In an ultimately futile attempt to distract myself from my most recent bout of adoption anxiety, I decided to go out and purchase the [...]

If you’re curious about how I came to start this site, my beliefs about being out at work, or my measures of success, among other questions, check out the interview.
The rest of the site is full of terrific resources for living a fulfilled, joyous, and [...]
