Don’t Forget to Go Vote!

Please! Take the baby. Take the donor. Haul the bedresting mama in via wheelchair if you forgot to get her an absentee ballot.
This is ESPECIALLY important if you live in Wisconsin, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, or Virginia, where there are anti-gay initiatives on the ballot.
If you live in one of those places, don’t just vote. Ask your neighbors, colleagues, and acquaintences to vote. (I’m assuming you’ve already talked to your friends and family.) And if you have friends or family in those places, make sure they vote, even if you don’t live there.
(BTW, if you live in Wisconsin and aren’t registered to vote, you can register at the polling place on the day of the election, if you can prove that you’ve lived in your current residence for at least the past 10 days.)

Mailed in my absentee ballot two weeks ago (YOU try voting with a two year old and a one year old in tow) and called the county recorder’s office yesterday to make sure they’d received it.
On the way to take my daughter to school this morning I passed a woman sitting in front of a church with a large “VOTE YES ON 107″ sign. I slowed down, booed, and did a thumbs-down thing. It’s easy to honk to show support, not so easy to show disapproval in the car. She just smiled and waved. I hope she won’t be smiling tonight after the results are in.
